Join us this winter for a series of art workshops to beautify TimberTown's Pathway to Renewal. Make a clay tile that will become part of a permanent installation in the park.
Sign up for one or more of these art workshops to contribute to Chelsea's latest community art installation! The Pathway to Renewal is Chelsea's art mosaic of reflection, beauty & grace at TimberTown Park and was created in 2003 in response to the tragic deaths in the community in the early 2000s. An effort is underway to repair and recognize the mosaic's history and create new permanent art installations to grace the park. In addition to the winter workshops, tile and fused glass workshops will be held in the spring (limited to one workshop per household). For ages 8 and up. Children under 13 must attend with a parent/adult.
Jan. 25 OR Feb. 8 | 12:30-2:30pm | Clay Tiles
This tile making class is led by Eli Zemper, a teaching artist and the owner/facilitator of Curiouser Clay. It provides community members the opportunity to be part of the Mosaic's renewal through the creation of a 4" clay tile that reflects the ideas of Hope, Healing, Helping and Renewal. After the glazing and firing, the clay tiles will be installed next spring into new vertical steel sculptures created by metal artist/fabricator Vince Walz. Registrants will be asked to fill out a simple worksheet to help them create their tile. All tile makers will be invited to the ribbon cutting to see their tile in place. Registration required; limited to one per household. This workshop is offered on two separate dates. Please attend only one.
Look for more Pathway to Renewal Workshops in our calendar, such as the Pennants workshop on Jan. 25 or Feb. 22.
