The Michigan Library Association is promoting our right to read with a state wide Read-In at the Capital! If you can't head over to Lansing, consider joining us at CDL instead!
Show your support for our right to read and your love of reading in general by coming to the library anytime between 3 and 6pm for a community read-in! Bring your favorite book or borrow one of ours. We will supply tea, decaf coffee, and cozy places to sit and read in the McKune Room.
This is a non-partisan event with no political agendas created by the Michigan Library Association meant to encourage and showcase the love and joy of reading. Anyone and everyone is invited to attend to celebrate literacy and books.

Adding to our day, MLA is planning a fun and engaging event for our advocates as well as their families and library patrons from around Michigan who are willing to come to Lansing on that day but might not want to visit their legislators: Read-In at the State Capitol. Bring your favorite book and plan to take a seat on the steps of the Capitol or in any of the galleries anytime between 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Anyone and everyone is invited to attend the read-in, you don’t have to register and we hope all libraries and independent bookstores will encourage their patrons to come to Lansing to help show their support. No signs, no demonstrations, no political agenda, just a love of reading your favorite book.
The Chelsea District Library is a single branch library serving the City of Chelsea and surrounding townships. The library has 4 small study rooms, one medium meeting room, and the McKune room, our main programming room.
